Obituary
Sarah Benita Martinenko passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 86 years, in Kelowna, BC.
She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children, David (Kerry), and Patricia (Daryl); six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Jack and Lilly. Benita was predeceased by her husband, Victor; son, James; and sisters, Louise and Suzie.
Benita was the director of housekeeping at the Selkirk Mental Hospital from which she retired at the age of 55 and moved to Peachland, with her husband Victor. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Benita loved gardening, cooking, and entertaining. She was always eager to help others and volunteered at pine acres care home for several years where her husband resided, always the life of the party. She also became close friends with many of the people at Westwood, where she lived.
