George Henry Godwin passed away peacefully in Kelowna, British Columbia after a lengthy battle with renal failure. “The Old Dog” endured 3 ½ years of hemodialysis and was in good spirits during this time. He was predeceased by his wife and companion of over 35 years, Ruth Lillian Godwin on August 6, 2007. Also, by his twin brother Richard (Gladys), older brother William (Mary), sister Daisy (Robert), and parents Clifford and Mary.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Linda, and Nora, his son Darryl, and daughters Sharon and Steffany. Also, his grandsons Aidan, Graeme (Anwyn), Erik, and granddaughters Amber and Kelsey. As well by his great-grandkids, Carson, Ashley, Darius, Aurora, William, and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was known as the “Old dog” and “Mr. Fix-it”. He enjoyed tinkering with TV pictures, electronics, and vehicles. He was extremely fond of black cats and generously enjoyed the company of five that we know of. He loved dogs as well but preferred the independence of felines!
As per George’s wishes, cremation has taken place without a funeral. The family will inter him with his wife Lillian during a Celebration of Life service in Burnaby, BC during the spring of 2024 TBA.
